Clients Speak Out

Blair:
"My speech isn’t bumpy anymore."

Jennifer (mom of 13 year old):
"Therapy is an investment in my child's future and freedom to speak."

Erik (age 26, product designer):
"This has been the most worthwhile therapy I've tried."

Sara and Dave (parents):
"Our son’s progress, since he began therapy, has been nothing short of a miracle. It has been well worth our time, energy and resources."

Kevin:
"We had a group session at a pizza place. It was fun to be with kids who were working on the same speech stuff as me."

Dennis (age 50, Building Contractor):
"When you stutter and you are not in therapy you are alone and feel helpless. I was avoiding all social and work situations because of my speech. After the first session I felt that there was hope and I had a plan. I was able to start managing my speech. It was a slow but steady process. I still stutter but I'm having fun talking again. Therapy has allowed me to get back to the work I love which is contracting. I can now call, make bids and proposals with ease. I really enjoy talking to my clients. I always feel that I'm the best person for the job and now I can say that. It has changed my life."

Sam:
"I’m using my speech tools in school a lot more now and I’m answering questions in class I can talk easy at school and be myself."

Christopher:
"I’m using my easy-speech all over this city!"

Traci:
"We began to look for a speech therapist for Ethan when he was 3 ½ years old because he was really struggling to get out his words. He would get “stuck” with about every sentence he attempted and he would wince and the wrong sounds would come out. It was painful to watch & scared us a lot. It was worse when he was excited about something or talking to other kids or strangers. I found myself wanting to protect him from having to talk to other people.

Ethan enjoyed going to speech from the start. Vianne made him feel very special and made all of us feel comfortable in her office. She began with games that encouraged speaking in short sentences that he could manage without stuttering. As this became easier for him, she changed the activities to challenge him more. Vianne adapted his treatment based on the activities that were most challenging to him in the real world. Gradually, he improved and began to correct his speech on his own. As his confidence grew, she gave us words to use at home to help him when he started to stutter.

Overall, the process has taken about 5 or 6 months. He went from stuttering with almost every conversation, to just an occasional “bump” that I would consider normal for any child his age. Occasionally, when he is stressed, it will get worse for a few days, but it is never as bad as it once was. All of our family and friends have noticed a dramatic change. Every now and then, I realize that I haven’t thought about his speech for weeks because it’s completely normal. I can see his confidence growing, and now he can talk to his friends without stuttering."
